Artist Talk Sunday 21 April at 15.30. All Welcome

The President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Anthony Connolly along with two fellow members, Toby Wiggins and Andrew James, will be curating a unique exhibition that goes to the heart of their reasons for making their work. Sixty new and unseen paintings, drawings and sculptures will form a dynamic dialogue that explores overlapping themes including personal memories, history, landscape, religion and a shared belief in the need for authenticity of spirit to be at the heart of the creative process.

“…our conversations over the last few years have highlighted very powerfully the sympathies we have for each other’s work, what we really value in contemporary figurative art, and how we stand well apart from much that is at the forefront of our visual culture.”  Anthony Connolly

“…these fortifying conversations have brought us to a deeper realisation of who we are individually and as a group – our art takes time to make and time to look at.”  Toby Wiggins

“’It’s become apparent that we’re not always ‘on trend’ and that we all flow against the grain somewhat. I’m really keen to see what that looks like when all the work comes together.” Andy James
