About CEFR Language Levels

To indicate the levels of language classes offered, we have followed the Common European Framework of References (CEFR) which cover six different levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. The A levels signify ‘basic user’ with A1 referring to beginners. The B levels cover ‘independent user’, intermediate and higher intermediate. The C levels cover ‘proficient user’ advanced levels.

Our course fees for language courses are slightly higher than other courses so that we can offer small groups and the best possible opportunities to practise the language.

We are running three courses – in French, Italian and Spanish – that were Beginners last year and for the academic year 23/24 we are calling them Basic. They are operating at level A2 or aiming for level A2.
