Music and the Cinema
The film industry has been with us for well over a century and has contributed massively to society in many different ways. One of the most important of these is music, which has a very special place in movie history. During this 6 week course we shall look at some of the film scores which have been written for the cinema, from the silent movies to the present era. From the United States of America to Russia, from Britain to France and elsewhere, we shall dip into this fascinating medium and trace how it helped colour and enrich many of the films we know today.

Julian Williamson
Julian trained at the Trinity College of Music, London, after which his career developed as a freelance conductor and lecturer. He has directed concerts in all London’s major halls and has also worked abroad, including lecturing on opera in Verona.
