Pleasures Money Can’t Buy
Stephen Bayley is our foremost design guru. He is a cultural commentator and consultant whose interests range from architecture to aeroplanes, from fast cars to fine coffee. He was the co-creator with Terence Conran of the Design Museum, has written regularly for the Observer, The Times, the Telegraph and Spectator and is the author of numerous books about modern living.
The late Clive James said of him: ‘He has the knack of getting ahead of everybody with values that turn out to be permanent.’ Fittingly, the title of Bayley’s lockdown book and the subject of his talk to the HLSI is Value: What Money Can’t Buy.
