Italian 1/2 (Basic & Improvers)

This course is for students with no or little knowledge of the language, and who wish to learn to communicate in everyday situations.

Basic vocabulary, structures, and grammar will be covered. Topics will include: personal information, shopping, directions, ordering food and drink, booking a hotel room, travelling, and other practical areas of interest. Students will also learn to talk about home, family, work, and leisure, including events from the past, and plans for the future. Grammar and cultural aspects will be incorporated into every topic.

The maximum size of the class is 12. Speaking will be the main activity, and students will be encouraged to participate in role-play, pair and group work, small presentations, games, and exercises. Other activities will include reading and listening comprehension, written exercises. Italian will be used as much as possible, but grammatical and cultural explanations will be given in English.

Materials. The following textbook we will be used: L.Ziglio, G.Rizzo-  Nuovo Espresso 1 -Alma edizioni  (ISBN 978- 88-6182-318-1). In the second and third term the following textbook will be used: L.Giglio, G.Rizzo Nuovo Espresso 2, Alma edizioni ISBN 978-88-6182-3211
