CEFR Definition

This course is for students who are confident in expressing themselves in French and have a good vocabulary but wish to improve their fluency. Students should have achieved A-level or equivalent or have spent part of a year in France.

As a general guide to weekly lessons, we shall discuss French current affairs, often as a warm-up, and throughout the year we shall examine aspects of French cultural life through literature, music, journalism, architecture and cinema. Grammar points will be revised according to the needs of the group.

A high priority is placed on individual contributions and group discussion: students will be warmly supported and encouraged to participate in class and thereby increase their fluency in the language.

Materials: students will be asked to buy a novel. Other reading and listening material will be provided by the tutor.
