This programme is for people who enjoy playing bridge, and want to improve their understanding of the game’s principles while meeting people to play the game we love.

Each session will be two hours including a short break.

The first half will be one to three short topic-based lessons, with preference given to topics suggested by participants the week before. Each lesson will involve playing a prepared hand followed by a discussion.

We will start the second half by experiencing a different way of playing bridge each week: Rubber, Chicago, and different types of “Duplicate” event, in a fun competition over four hands.

We will wind up with a 20-minute question-and-answer session, in which players can also suggest topics for next week’s lessons.

Advice will be provided about how to set up a bridge game at home, as well as links to local places to play informally and competitively.

Open to all levels, from those with casual experience to more competitive players. You may nominally register as a pair, but all players will be asked to change partnerships several times during a session.
