For our planned 2020-21 season of screenings, the Highgate Film Society will be operating slightly differently – and within the most up-to-date government guidelines – both to make the booking of a seat easier, and to reassure film-goers that the necessary health and safety measures are in place. The HFS committee has put together a thoughtful, wide-ranging and exciting programme of films for this new season, and we hope you will feel comfortable enough, given the current necessary restrictions, to join us.
There will be a flat-rate charge of £7 per person per film (except for the February Special) and you MUST purchase your seat(s) by 1pm on the day of the screening through the HLSI website to guarantee entry. No one will be allowed access unless they have a booked seat, and your name (and those of your party if you have also booked for others) will be cross-checked at the front desk when you arrive. Unless otherwise stated, the doors will open from 7.45pm and the film will start at 8pm.
You will be asked for the number of people in your party when you book for a screening and you must sit with the people in your booking: the seating arrangements to accommodate this will be set up in advance in the Victoria Hall. Couples or groups who have booked together will be in their own ‘bubble’, and there will also be a number of single seats. All ‘bubbles’ and single seats will be set 1.8m apart, and the Victoria Hall will be ventilated throughout the screening. Face-coverings must be worn for the duration of the film, and hand-sanitiser will be available within the building. Please do not, however, come to any film if you feel unwell.
Unfortunately we won’t be able to serve drinks for the time being, and all film-goers are kindly asked to observe appropriate social distancing before and after the film, and also to use the one-way entry/exit routes operating within the HLSI.
You do not need to be a member of the HLSI to attend – all are welcome. Our list of films for 2020-21 is available below, and we look forward to welcoming you back safely, and warmly, to the screenings.
